The recent national merit Awards on two Abians in Abuja in fashion and design leather works have been described as a reward for the huge investment of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in the SME sector of the state.

The recent national merit Awards on two Abians in Abuja in fashion and design leather works have been described as a reward for the huge investment of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in the SME sector of the state.

              The Commissioner for SME Development Mr Onyema Wachukwu who stated this while updating the press on the latest MSME National merit Award where two Abians including Miss Chidinma Erem and Mr. Clement Orjinta received fashion and design and leather works of the year awards, said that Abia is the only state with two awardees at the event.

   Mr Wachukwu said that Abians are naturally blessed with entrepreneurial skills and that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has leveraged on the ingenuity and creative mindset of an average Abian in placing the state on the global map.

              Also Speaking, the Senior special Assistant to the Governor on Job creation Mr. Chinenye Nwogu noted that the passion of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in SME development led to the infrastructural revolution in Aba and other parts of the state,adding that the first ever seven thousand capacity automated shoe factory built by the present administration will be commissioned for use in no distant time.

Mr. Nwogu said that the thirty shoe makers earlier trained on Automation in China by the present administration have the choice to fully work or as partners in the factory, pointing out that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is determined to the creation of millions of jobs through SME sector of the state.

    Contributing also, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Sir Onyebuchi Ememanka said that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as the brand Ambassador of made in Abia goods has laid a solid foundation for further growth and development of SME, adding that the recent awards in SME is the 3rd Abia is receiving under Governor Ikpeazu .

    Speaking on behalf of the two national awardees, the Ohafia-born Miss Chidinma Erem said that her family background spurred her into leather works and thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for exposing them to the global community in SME.
