The Chairman Ikwuano LGA, Chief Stephen Mpamugo has called on the State and Fed. Govt’ to consider citing a Cocoa Processing Plant in the Council to facilitate the production of cocoa.

The Chairman Ikwuano Local Government Area Chief   Stephen Mpamugo has called on the State and Federal Government’ to consider citing a Cocoa Processing Plant in the Council to facilitate the production of cocoa.

Chief Mpamugo who stated this when the State Chairmann Abia State Chapter of Cocoa Farmers Association of Nigeria Mr. John K. Kalu paid him a courtesy call in his office at Isiala Oboro, said the provision of accessible roads to the Cocoa Producing Communities will not only enhanced cocoa production and attract local and foreign investment but also reposition Ikwuano to continue to play its leading role in cocoa production.

In his speech earlier, the State Chairman Cocoa Farmers Association of Nigeria, Mr. John Kalu acknowledged that although Ikwuano is the largest producer of cocoa in the State the absence of accessible road network and facilitates like processing plant are militating against increased production.

He used the occasion to appeal to the Chairman Ikwuano Local Government Area to help the Association in canvassing for more members’ from Cocoa Producing Communities especially as the Association holds the State Enlightenment Meeting  tomorrow at  Ahia Orie adding that the meeting will encourage participation of members in this year’s Anchor Borrowers Programme of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
