Abia State government has described a retired Permanent Secretary in the state civil service, Very Rev Ernest ONYEUKWU, as an embodiment of integrity, humility and solution provider not only in public sector matters but also in the things of God.
The Secretary to Abia State Government, Barr Chris Ezem, made the statement while speaking at the thanksgiving service of Very Rev Onyeukwu held at His Glory Methodist Church, Palm Lane, Umuahia.
Barr Ezem tasked serving public sector workers to emulate the worthy and shining of the retired Permanent Secretary.
Contributing, the former Commissioner of Agriculture, Prof lkechi Mgbeoji and Abia State Head of Service, Sir Onyii Wamah described the celebrant as ” a rare gem of inestimable value”, who is not only transparent but also intelligent, diligent as well as focus in all his ways.
Adding his voice, His Grace Most Rev Dr. Chibuzo Opoko depicted the celebrant as a “fearless, courageous,bold and very ready to tell the truth with love” in all situations.
In his homily, Rt Rev Chikwendu Ogan Igwe, Bishop of Kubwa, Abuja, announced that immeasurable grace and mercy of God is upon the life of Very Rev Ernest Onyeukwu and he wisely applied it all assignments given to him while in service
Bishop lgwe challenged christians to always do what is right in whatever station they find themselves.
Responding, the retired Permanent Secretary, Very Rev Ernest Onyeukwu thank Almighty God using him as vessel of honour to contribute his quota in the service of the state and the vineyard of God.
He declared that “retirement isn’t the end of the road but just a turn in the road” and urged public sector workers to selflessly discharge their duties, stressing that no good deed would go unrewarded.
