The wife of the Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu has charged the members of National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) to step up their enlightenment campaign for protection of women’s rights.

Mrs. Ikpeazu who gave the charge in her office during the visit of the leaders of NCWS urged them to continue to work in unity and partner the government in fighting against gender based violence and all kinds of child abuse.

The wife of the Governor called for greater women participation in politics, support for empowerment and skills acquisitions to enable them become wealth creators and self-reliant.

Speaking earlier, the state President of NCWS, Mrs. Eunice Nwaigwe who said that their visit was to pay homage to the wife of the Governor and informed her that their tenure of four years was gradually coming to an end announced their plan to organize NCWS variety week that will be concluded with awards to notable personalities.
