The Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has charged Deputy Chairmen of the seventeen Local Governments Areas of the State to be always loyal and work in harmony with their various Chairmen to achieve best results that will lead to the overall development of the State.
Sir Oko Chukwu who gave the charge during a courtesy visit by the Abia State Chapter of Forum of Deputy Chairmen at Government House, Umuahia stressed the need for the Deputy Chairmen to remain focused and assist their Chairmen in relevant areas and avoid issues that will bring conflicts as it is only in an atmosphere of peace and understanding that development can take place.
The Deputy Governor while congratulating them for emerging as Deputy Chairmen in their various Local Government Areas outlined their duties to include settlement of boundary problems, provision of necessary infrastructure at the grassroots with the support of their Chairmen and assured them of the support of the Governor Okezie lkpeazu’s administration in delivering democracy dividends to the rural areas.
He urged them to be acquainted with the daily running of Government at their various Councils as well as justify the essence of their being elected through selfless service to the people and prayed God to make their tenure successful.
Earlier in his remarks, the Leader of the delegation and Deputy Chairman Obingwa Local Government Area, Mr Uchenna Jumbo said they came to present themselves and learn from his wealth of experience especially on the harmony existing between him and his boss which has led to good governance in the State.
