The governor Dr. Okezie lkpeazu says that Abia is one of the first states that came out with legislation banning open grazing in Nigeria.

Speaking in an interview with Leadership Sunday, Governor lkpeazu noted that Abia has a lot of minerals and crude oil, pointing out that the state cannot permit open grazing.

The Governor stated that his administration constituted a committee on farmers/herders conflict Resolution that has helped in maintaining peace, where compensations are paid for cows and farmlands destroyed.

The state chief executive called for proper diagnosis of issues relating to insecurity to enable arriving at a policy that will deal with criminal elements not minding their background, Origin or businesses.

The Governor noted that he is putting in place road infrastructure in Aba in line with his administration’s efforts to actualize Enyimba economic city project which has the capacity of generating over six thousand job opportunities.

He revealed that a new university and Shoe factory will soon come up in the Enyimba economic city disclosed that six companies have shown interests and   blamed slow pace on covid-19 pandemic.

Governor lkpeazu stated that his administration is already rejuvenating the economy of Aba by encouraging small and medium enterprises among others, pointing out that he is also gradually clearing the salaries of few agencies, including teachers and pensioners, even as pensioners who spent up to two years before keying for pensions are being keyed in promptly now and paid.

On the recent security issues in the state, the governor said government has commenced trailing of the perpetrators with a view to apprehending them for prosecution.
