AMAUDO ITUMBAUZO

The Director Amaudo Itumbauzo Center For Mentally ill Destitute, the Very Rev. Kenneth Nwaubani, has Called on Government to make Mental health care an integral part of primary Health care due to rising cases of mental health issues in society.

The Very Rev. Nwaubani who made the call while addressing newsmen after six Mentally ill destitute were picked from the streets of Umuahia and taken to the center for rehabilitation, noted that such a step will enable those with mental illness get access to Mental health care.

The Very Rev. Nwaubani said that the Lenten period calls for Greater love and care for humanity beyond the usual fasting and praying which the center is demonstrating and called on the Church of God and privileged persons in the society to be part of bringing succor to the downtrodden.

He lamented the increasing cases of mental illness among the male folk due to drug abuse and called on Government to put in place the appropriate machinery  to checkmate the ugly trend and commended the State government under Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for its concern for the less privileged through the existing partnership with the Center.
