Dr. Jonathan who stated this at the Foundation Laying/Commissioning of Projects and Extra Convocation ceremony of Gregory University, Uturu, GUU, Abia State, noted that quality education will reduce tension occasioned by unemployment and insecurity.
Dr. Jonathan lauded the founder of the GUU for awarding him with a doctorate degree, naming the Auditorium after him, Foundation laying of the GUU Teaching Hospital Ezinachi and Commissioning of a Transformer Sub Station at ABSU.
In his speech, the State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu recalled that granting of provisional license by Dr. Jonathan’s administration in 2011 and formal licensing by the National University Commission in 2012 for the GUU to be established was a step in the right direction.
The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, lauded the former President for bringing stability to governance through his selfless action of conceding defeat when it mattered most, and appreciated the founder of GUU, Prof. Ibeh for bringing development to the community and State through the University.
In his address, the Founder and Chancellor of GUU, Prof Greg Ibeh, said the Extra Ordinary Convocation Ceremony was packaged to honour the former President for giving impetus for the School to be established, the Foundation Laying Ceremony of a one thousand bed Teaching Hospital and the commissioning of MVA Transformer Sub-station at ABSU and thanked Governor Ikpeazu for his support to the school.
