The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Joseph Iloh, says the Commission has launched the continuous Voter Registration Program across the States.
Dr. Iloh who stated this in a press briefing with Journalists in INEC Office, Umuahia, disclosed that INEC has converted the existing number of one thousand, three hundred and eighty-seven voting points to two thousand, six hundred and seventy-five Polling Units as at 2019 totaling four thousand, and sixty-two to improve qualitative access, stressing that INEC did not create any polling units but rather converted the existing polling points to polling units.
The INEC Commissioner pointed out that there are two methods of registration – the On-line Pre-registration that has the INEC website as cvr.inecnigeria.org or INEC.gov.ng and the In-Person registration, stating that the exercise can be done at one’s comfort and does not require scratch card or cyber café to register voters.
Delivering his lecture, the INEC Head of Department, ICT, Victor Igboh, disclosed that the online voter pre-registration constituted the Review of registered voters card, Transfers, information update, collection of PVC as well as damaged PVC, noting that the pre-code and bar-code is essential for finger print capturing.
