The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Abia State Council, has promised to continue to partner the Federal Road Safety Corps in the State for effective operation.
The State Chairman, NUJ, Comrade Victor Nudkwe, who made the promise when the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Paul Ugwu paid a courtesy visit to the Council at NUJ Press Center, Umuahia, thanked the Sector Commander for finding time to identify with the Abia NUJ while assuring him of the Union’s support to enable him succeed in the State.
Speaking earlier, the Sector Commander, FRSC Abia State Command, Mr. Paul Ugwu said they came to thank members of the NUJ for the cordial relationship that has been existing between the Union and the FRSC and solicited assistance to promote safety of lives in the State.
The FRSC Boss in the State who explained that Public Education is key in Road Safety enumerated some of the programmes of the Command to include the Free Vehicle Safety Check and Quarterly Safety Audit, adding that the Command has also introduced the Speed Limit Device which will help to regulate the speed of drivers.
He urged vehicle owners to ensure the registration processes of their vehicles are completed, disclosing that plans are underway to ensure that Keke Operators have drivers licence.
