Following reports of implementation of additional N240 daily tickets for tricycle (Keke) operators in the state by Abia State Internal Revenue Service in lieu of Education Tax Fund as duly approved, the Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has directed immediate suspension of the additional collection till further notice.
A release endorsed by the commissioner for information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu directs officials of Abia State Internal Revenue Service to immediately revert to the old charges pending further directives.
The release therefore urges law abiding tricycle operators, residents and visitors to go about their normal businesses and avoid acts that are capable of breaching the existing peace and security in the state.
It also advises against any form of public protests in the state to avoid the possibility of being hijacked by hoodlums and anarchists as the case has been in recent past.
According to the release, Law enforcement agents in the state have been detailed to ensure that there is no disruption whatsoever of the existing peace and tranquility of the state by any individual or group.
