The Governor Dr. Okezie lkpeazu says the signing and securing of the one billion Naira SME Development Matching Fund Agreement with the Bank of Industry will go a long way in galvanizing economic activities in the State as well as repositioned the State’s economy in line with International best practices.
Dr. lkpeazu who stated this during the 2021 Annual General Meeting and Investiture of Ide John Udeagbala as the twenty-first President of Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) held at the Aba Sports Club, Aba reaffirmed his administration’s determination to explore every ingenuity to ensure that her resources are effectively harnessed.
The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu disclosed that in a bid to exploit and harness the development of the commercial city of Aba, the present administration has tackled the infrastructural decay and other deficits in Aba to ease movement of goods and services, while partnering Development Organizations and lending Institutions to provide access of funds to the people.
Governor Ikpeazu said he sponsored twenty-nine Shoe and Allied Leather Products Manufacturers, including some members of Aba and Umuahia Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture on Trade Mission to Turkey and the USA as well as forty Youths to Port Novo, Republic of Benin to understudy and acquire modern agricultural skills for the improvement and enhancement of agricultural production with special emphasis on Oil Palm proliferation, Cocoa, Cassava and Rice production among others.
He expressed delight that with the construction of the Abia Industrial Clusters with Aba as the starting point, the efforts of his administration since 2015 have continued to yield fruits through the SMES as Abia entrepreneurs have consistently won laurels for the State especially in the recent Award of Excellence in Leather Works to Aba Footwear Academy at the National MSME Award held in Abuja.
Dr Ikpeazu used the forum to charge all the stakeholders to braze up to the challenges of achieving a sustainable economic growth with a focus on trading under African Continental Free Trade Agreement, and pledged to partner NACCIMA for the common good of all while congratulating Ide John Udeagbala on his Investiture as the twenty-first President of NACCIMA.
In their speeches, the Chairman on the occasion, Senator Ken Nnamani and the outgone President, Hajiya Saratu Iya – Aliyu described the new NACCIMA President, as a very successful business man who will take his wealth of experience to act as bridge between Government and their members in taking them to greater heights and called for their support to make his tenure a successful one.
In his inaugural speech, the new President of NACCIMA, Ide John Udeagbala appreciated the members for finding him worthy to serve and, promised to protect the interest of every member while soliciting their unalloyed support.
