The Commissioner for Health, Dr Joe Osuji has charged health workers in the state to be more committed in sensitizing the public on the need to embrace family planning.
Dr Osuji who was represented by his Public Relations Officer Mr. Ifeanyi Ezeocha stated this during the Flag off of media Campaign on Family Planning organized by Rotary International for Health workers at Primary Health Care Centre, Ojike Street, Umuahia, disclosed that the state Government is not relenting but is doing a lot to ensure that mothers of child bearing age space their children properly.
In her remarks, the state Rotary Representative on family Planning Campaign programme, Lady Chinedu Brown, disclosed that the media launch is aimed at enlightening people on the need for family planning for economic growth and development.
Contributing, the Assistant Governor, Rotary International zone 3, Ogechi Oguama and the State coordinator Family Planning, Confidence Ogboso opined that Rotary as a service organization, works towards helping others as well as achieving the sustainable development goal.
Presenting a lecture on Family Planning, the Director health Education Mrs. Meg Onwu, disclosed that family planning helps reduce death rate among women, giving birth to the number of children a couple cater for, among others, and enjoined all hands to be on deck.
