Government has appealed to the Nursing Council of Nigeria to increase the number of Students Nursing Schools are allowed to admit each session to boost the financial strength of the schools.


Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Osuji who made the appeal when he received a team from Nursing Council of Nigeria Abuja who were in Abia to ascertain the standard of schools of Nursing in the State restated the State Government’s commitment to training nurses that can compete favourably anywhere they find themselves.


He noted that the State Government is not relenting efforts in maintaining the standard of schools of Nursing as obtainable elsewhere while promising that the State Government will make up whatever lapses they discovered at the schools.


Presenting their findings, the Leader of the team and Director, Nursing Services, Hospital Management Board, Abuja, Mrs. Grace Eleri, appreciated Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for putting in place facilities in the Schools of Nursing and harped on the need to sustain areas of strength as well as improve on areas of weakness as observed by the team.
