Nigerian military have been commended for their important role in the maintenance of peace and security of lives and property of the citizenry.
The Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu who made this known during the 2021 Nigerian Army medical outreach held at 14 Brigade Ohafia in Ohafia Local Government Area restated that one of the cardinal policies of the present administration is the protection of lives and property of her citizens and assured of government’s continued support for effective services.
Governor Ikpeazu represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Chris Ezem, pointed out that security is a collective responsibility and enjoined all to see security agents as their friend.
He appreciated the Nigerian military for using the day to affect lives positively especially in the promotion of good health adding that the gesture will strengthen civil military relationship as well as build confidence of the Nigerian people in the military.
In his welcome address, the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General M. B. Wabili disclosed that the event is held annually to cater for the welfare of the host community and thanked Ohafia indigenes for turning out in enmass for the outreach.
Earlier in his remark, the Chairman, Ohafia Local Government Area, Dr. Okorafor Ukiwe appreciated the Nigerian Army for organizing the progrmme in the area and pledged their co-operation.
In a vote of thanks, the Udumeze of Ohafia, Professsor E. U. L. Imaga represented by his Secretary, Eze Mba Okereke, thanked the Nigerian military for the program.
The event featured free medical eye check, blood pressure check, antenatal care among others as well as distribution of palliative to the public.
