The team members who departed through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport Abuja include Canoeing athlete Ayomide Bello and her coach Ebenezer Ukwumma, Rowing athlete Esther Took and her coach Regina Emofe as well as their medical crew and few officials from the federal ministry of youth and sports development.
Meanwhile reports emanating from Tokyo says fans are likely to be banned from the opening over virus fears, but a reduced number of VIPs comprising IOC representatives, foreign dignitaries and sponsors connected to the games will be allowed into the national stadium to watch the July 23 ceremony as the Olympic torch is due to arrive Tokyo this Friday having the Janese city since March.
