Week in Retrospect

In continuation of his Kinetic Abia project Inspection and commissioning, the Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu last week commissioned the newly reconstructed Immaculate Heart Avenue done by his administration.

Speaking during the exercise, Governor Ikpeazu promised to complete the Osisioma Flyover, Eziukwu, Omuma-Ngwa roads and other strategic projects embarked upon by his administration before the expiration of his tenure.

The Governor also last week received foreign investors, Big Dutchman Germany and Cadland USA who paid him a courtesy visit at Government House Umuahia.

Speaking Governor Ikpeazu said the present administration is determined to collaborate and partner foreign investor desirous of establishing their projects in the State.

Also last week, the distribution of letters of engagement and tablets to trained Independent Monitors of the SIPs and flag-off of the enumeration of the Homegrown School Feeding Program was held at Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia.

Speaking, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu represented by the SSG, Mr. Chris Ezem described the State as a Vanguard of Social Investment programme Implementation in Nigeria.

Same last week, the Abia State Judicial panel of Inquiry on Police Brutality, extra judicial killing and other related matters recently constituted following the END SARS protest submitted its report to the Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu.

Receiving the report which has five volumes, Governor Ikpeazu represented by the SSG, Mr. Chris Ezem commended the panel for a job well done .
Last week, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu approved the appointment of Justice K.O Wosu retired as chairman of the Abia State Law Reform Commission.

A release by the chief of Staff to the Governor, Professor ACB Agabzuere named other members of the commission to include Prof. Ngwakwe, Chi Adiele, Ogbonna Uko and Eze Onwuima.

A meeting of the State Immunization task Force was held last week at Government House, Umuahia.

Speaking, the Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu charged stakeholders in the State Primary healthcare Development agency to mount strong synergy that will forestall, further appearances of the wild polio in the State and Country.

The Deputy Governor Sir Ude Oko Chukwu last week received a delegation of the Nigerian Copyright commission at his Office at Government House, Umuahia.

Addressing them, Sir Oko Chukwu called on stakeholders in the Nigerian copyright Commission to engage key players in states of the federation in the fight against piracy to ensure positive impact on the industry and economy.

The State House of Assembly last week passed HAB 39: a bill for a law to establish guidelines for the Management of Funds of the Abia State House of Assembly and for other related matters and HAB 42, a ill for a law to establish guidelines for the Management of the funds of Abia State Judiciary and other related matters.

Speaking. While announcing the passage of the bills into law the speaker chief Chinedum Orji said the bills when assented to , would be deemed to have come into al wont eh fifth day of July, 2021.
