Overseas Aid.

The United Kingdom Government has won a Commons vote to lock in cuts to spending on Overseas aid, despite a rebellion by Tory Members of Parliament.

Members of Parliament voted by a majority of thirty-five to keep the budget for international development at zero point five percent of national income.

But twenty-five Conservatives joined Labour and other Parties in an attempt to reinstate the zero point seven percent figure which was in place until earlier this year.

The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, however; said the cut was needed to keep public debt down during the pandemic.
