The Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has expressed delight that his administration’s special attention in Abia is getting desired result.
The Governor who stated this while featuring in an audience participatory programme KOTA SIGN Co-Anchored by the Director General Abia State Rural Infrastructural Development Agency, Dr. Ike Onyenweaku disclosed that today Aba is referred as the small and medium enterprises capital of Nigeria while Abia has received the award of the state with the ease of doing business and foreign direct investment.
The Governor who dedicated his recent award of the Governor of the year by Vanguard Newspapers to God and Ndi Abia said he is happy that Aba is today being recognized within and across the country as the SMES grant and promised to leave the state better than he met it.
Governor Ikpeazu said he has changed the narrative of the state in the area of SMES Education and health with the building of six hundred and fifty classroom blocks, building of four modern schools, establishment of Teachers continuous Education Centre for the training and retraining of teachers, while the state has maintained leading positions in West African Examination Council.
He revealed that fifty young Abians will be sent overseas on scholarship this year while the Abia State tele health programme connected to eight hundred health centres has received international recognition.
Governor Ikpeazu disclosed that the Engineering Department of ABSU under construction will be functional before the end of this year.
