A Professor of Nigerian history and politics, Professor Ejitu Nnechi Ota has described true federalism with the 2014 national conference report as its fulcrum as the only way out of the present political and economic problems bedeviling Nigeria.
Professor Ota who disclosed this while delivering the57th inaugural lecture of Abia State University Uturu on the topic” when history beckons: deconstructing the dialectics of Nigerian politics since 1946 held at the University Auditorium said such move will put the country back on track as the beacon of hope not only for Africa but for Africans all over the world.
He noted that balancing power, upholding the rule of law, satisfying the basic human and material needs of an average Nigerian among others as recommended in the 2014 National Conference will go along way in restoring hope for Nigeria and Nigerians.
Earlier while declaring the 57th inaugural lecture open, the Chairman on the occasion and Vice Chancellor ABSU Professor Onyemachi Ogbulu said the lecture remains the harvest of intellectual knowledge gathered over the years and made it clear that history is important in knowing the past, present and the future as well as charting the way forward.
Professor Ogbulu used the occasion to advise parents to stop pressuring their children to read only professional courses against their wish but allow them to choose other courses that will help them to develop their talents in life and revealed that the University needs more1350 candidates to fill different courses.
