Chinese President XI Jinping has visited the politically troubled region of Tibet in the first official visit by a Chinese leader in thirty Years.
The President was in Tibet from Wednesday till yesterday but state media reported the visit after it ended.
Reports say, Tibet has had a tumultuous history during which it has spent some period functioning as an Independent entity and ruled by powerful Chinese and Mongolian dynasties.
China is accused of suppressing cultural and religious freedom in the remote and mainly Buddhist region.
But the government has denied the accusations noting that Tibet has developed considerably under its rule.
Meanwhile people in the city had reported unusual activities and monitoring of their movement ahead of his visit.
