The governor Dr okezie lkpeazu says his administration on assumption in 2015 took up the promotion and marketing of Made in Aba to drive home the need for people to patronise the ingenuity of our people.
The governor who was speaking in Aljazeera interview program said having noticed that Aba has up to 250, 000 young people majoring in leather and other Artisans work in and understanding their challenges including marketing, power, capacity building automation among others he took up the challenge by becoming the chief promoter of made in Aba.
The governor disclosed that he took most of Artisans to china to acquire knowledge on automation of shoes, provided a conducive environment for their businesses, as well as adequate power supply for shoe makers cluster at Ariaria international market.
The state chief executive said with coming onboard of an independent power project in Aba before the end of the year the commercial nerve centre will witness uninterrupted power supply. Pointing out that he has taken the made Aba product beyond the shores of the country.
The governor said that today Aba has an Automated Shoe factory with the supply of shoes to military and paramilitary agencies in the country, pointing out that his administration set up a ministry of SME with a one stop shop in addiction to adequate tax regime to help attract investors.
The governor revealed that he build lasting roads that leads to economic places in Aba such as faults road Eziukwu among others using cement rigid technology with a good drainage system
