A new executive of the State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Abia State Council has been elected with Comrade Victor Ndukwe as the Chairman.
Other elected members include Chidi Asonye Vice chairman, Blessing Igbokwe-Ralph Secretary, Orji Nwoke Chika Treasurer, Chibuzo Maduka Iro Financial Secretary, Uzoukwu Amarachi Auditor.
Speaking after the election the Assistant National Secretary NUJ Comrade Akorede Opeyemi commended members of the union for conducting themselves peacefully in the triennial delegate conference.
He congratulated the new executive of the union and assured of the continued support of the national body of the union.
Administering the Oath of office on the new executive the Secretary NUJ zone C comrade Kenneth Ofoma advised them to work together as a team to take the union in the state to greater heights and congratulated them on their successes at the election.
Speaking earlier the outgoing state chairman NUJ Comrade John Emejor while enumerating the successes recorded during his tenure advised members of the union to give the new Executive all the support to enable them do well.
Responding on behalf of the new executive of NUJ Abia state, the new chairman comrade Victor Ndukwe thanked members of the union for finding them worthy to serve and promised to justify the confidence reposed on them in taking the union to greater heights.
Correspondent lfeanyi Ogbonna reports that highpoint of the election was the inauguration of the new executive while the event was attended by all registered journalists in Abia state.
