People in leadership positions have been challenged to make youth development their priority.

The State Chairman National Youth Council of Nigeria NYCN comrade Smith Sylvanus who threw the challenge while featuring in a BCA television special interview programme described youth empowerment as key to peaceful environment.

Comrade Sylvanus stressed the need for government to partner youth leaders from the Communities, Local Government and the State and engage them in legal means of survival to address the rising issue of insecurity, pointing out that youths are in a better position to identify the bad eggs among them.

He described Abia Youths as very industrious, hardworking and creative and called on government at all levels to create more job opportunities for the youth, as well as sensitize them on the need to stay out of crime and redefine their mindset for a better life.

The State Chairman NYCN commended the State Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for the numerous empowerment programmes for the youth and the choice of youths as executive Chairmen of the seventeen local government areas of the State describing it as one of the best decisions of the Governor while challenging the Local Government Chairmen not to betray the confidence reposed in them.
