The Monthly Sanitation Exercise for the month of April holds tomorrow in the State between the hours of nine 0’clock and eleven 0’clock in the morning.
A release signed by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Environment Mr. Iheanyichukwu Ubani says movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except those on essential duties who would be required to present on demand, valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemption.
According to the release, Chairmen of the Local Government Councils, Traditional Rulers, Town Union leaders, Religious leaders, and youth and women organizations in the State are required to monitor and sensitize their people on the importance of the exercise and to participate as well.
The release says all markets, motor parks, private and public transport companies as well as business premises are to remain closed tomorrow between the hours of seven 0’clock in the morning and nine 0’clock in the morning to carry out their own clean up exercise.
The release also says the Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps are to assemble at their usual places of takeoff for deployment.
The release maintains that people are to stay at home and clean up their areas especially now there is a second wave of corona virus adding that any workforce during the exercise must not exceed ten persons who must work with their nose mask as directed by government affirming that defaulters shall be arrested and prosecuted in line with the Abia State Basic Environmental Law.
