Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has restated his resolve to keep making the Health of Abians the topmost priority of his administration.
Governor Ikpeazu who stated this while addressing members of the Dietitians Association of Nigeria, Abia State Chapter who were on a courtesy visit to him at government House Umuahia, said that Health still remains one of the five pillars of development of his administration.
The Governor represented by his Special Adviser on Health Mr Felix Chiwendu Joe said that his overall ambition in the Health sector is to institute in the state a life expectancy that would be higher than that of national average.
He expressed happy that the Federal Medical center Umuahia now accept Dietitians on internship and Promised that Government will keep leveraging on the expertise of the Dietitians Association of Nigeria while pledging to be part of their forthcoming maiden national Training workshop taking place in the state.
Earlier, the State Chairman of the Association Mrs Azubuike Clara said that the visit was to invite the Governor as a distinguished Guest of honor at the opening ceremony of their maiden National Training of trainers Workshop on Internship Programme for Training and Prospective Training centres taking place between 5th and 6th may 2021 in the state.
She noted that as a professional body of Dietitians in Nigeria registered with International confederation of Dietetics Association with Headquarters in Canada, adding that with the recent accreditation of FMC Umuahia for dietetics Internship graduates in the state no longer need secure Internship placement outside the state.
