The South East Governors’ Forum has re-stated the adoption of the common Joint Security outfit, Ebubeagu, with her Regional Headquarters in Enugu.

In a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting with the Clergy, the Leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Traditional Rulers and South-East Joint Security committee in Enugu and read by Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, they declared that it will work with the Police and other security agencies in her operations.

The South East Governors’ Forum also agreed on the structure and operational modalities of Ebubeagu and setting up of an advisory body for the security outfit.

The forum directed the Attorney Generals and Commissioners for Justice of the South East States to work with the Joint Security Committee to come up with amendment of the existing State Laws to reflect the new EBUBEAGU outfit.

It also directed the President, Ohaneze Ndigbo, to constitute within ten days, a South-East Peace and Reconciliation Committee to engage the people for the peace and security of the citizens and her visitors as well as a Strategy and Welfare Committee to engage and protect the people, especially those who are being unfairly treated.

The forum expressed support for  restructuring, the setting up of State Police and other national issues as discussed in the last NEC meeting, disclosing that a Committee has been set up to work out acceptable modalities and submit same to NEC in its next meeting.

 It condemned the attacks on the country home of the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma and other State infrastructure and called on the Federal Government to fish out the perpetrators and ensure their prosecution while restating their commitment to the State laws banning open grazing in the South East and urged the security agencies and the local vigilantees to enforce the ban in the zone.

The South East Governors forum further agreed on the implementation of various END SARS Youth Empowerment Programmes in the South East States as soon as possible.

The State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, his Enugu State counterpart, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuany, the Deputy Governor of Imo state, Professor Placid Njoku, the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Ogah , the President General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and his Secretary, the Chairman, Abia Council of Ndieze, Eze J.N. Nwabakee , Religious Leaders were among Stakeholders that attended the meeting.
