As part of activities to mark this year’s World Immunization Week, the Abia State Primary Health Care Development Agency has embarked on a sensitization walk within Umuahia metropolis to sensitize the public on the need to immunize their children.

Speaking in an interview, the Director, Health Education, in the Abia State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Mrs. Meg Onwu disclosed that the State has recorded over eighty-five percent coverage in immunization activities, though a lot still need to be done to ensure wider coverage.

Mrs. Onwu who disclosed that stakeholders in the sector have been of immense help in publicizing the immunization activities in the State, called on parents and care givers to always bring their children for immunization. 

She revealed that the Agency is rounding-off up the week with outbreak response activities, which will be starting on seventh of next month where children of zero to five years will be given Oral Polio Vaccine as booster doses irrespective of their previous immunization statutes.
