Government says it will continue to support the NYSC scheme in the state especially in the provision of basic amenities for its smooth operation.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu who stated this during the passing out parade of the 2021 Batch A Stream Two Corps Members deployed to the state, maintained that government approved funds for the rehabilitation of the orientation camp in Umunna in Bende Local Government Area to ease the accommodation problem.

 Governor Ikpeazu represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Chris Ezem, congratulated the Corps Members for their dedication to duty and their overall selfless service to their fatherland and further lauded those that engaged in community development services especially in the area of health, education and rural transformation, stressing that the present administration will not relent in appreciating hard work.

The Governor charged the Corps Members to shun activities that will undermine the noble ideas of the Scheme during their service year and commended the management of the scheme for the constant liaison with State Government which has significantly improved the cordial working relationship with the scheme.

In his address, the Chairman, NYSC Governing Board and Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Charles Esonu, congratulated the passing out corps members for the successful completion of their service year and assured that government will continue to pursue the policy of rewarding excellence in service, diligence, hardwork to outstanding Corps members.

Earlier in his welcome address, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Jingi Dennis, pointed out that, out of the eight hundred and seventy corps member, nine, will be repeating the service for cases of abscondment from service, and disclosed that one Corps member received State Honors Award for his outstanding performance, while five other members received commendation certificates.

In a vote of thanks, a Corps member, Mr. Udeme Effiiong, thanked God and the State Government for the opportunity to serve in the state, assuring that they will continue to be good ambassadors wherever they find themselves.

The event featured parade, and presentation of state award to the overall best Corps Member, Mr. Akpan Victor, a graduate of Civil Engineering from Akwa Ibom State and award certificates to five Corps members.
