Prizes and Awards.

The Abia State University, Uturu, has formally presented prizes and awards to the twelve outstanding graduates of her twenty-seventh and twenty-eight combined convocation ceremony held last year.

Speaking during the formal presentation of the prizes at the Senate Chambers, the Vice-Chancellor, ABSU, Prof. Onyemachi Ogbulu, commended the awardees for their outstanding performances in their chosen courses and urged them to keep the flag flying.

Professor Ogbulu reminded them that their main purpose of studying in Abia State University is to excel in character and learning, pointing out that the University honored and appreciated them to encourage others to be committed in their academics.

The Vice Chancellor stated that the University will continue to maintain academic standard despite obvious challenges and called on well-meaning Abians, groups, the alumni and corporate organizations to partner the University by instituting their own prizes, endowments, or awards in their preferred fields as a way of promoting education.

In his speech earlier while reading out the list of the recipients, the Registrar, ABSU, Dr. Acho Elendu, stated that the prizes range from cash awards, automatic employment, oversea scholarship and gold medal awards and were sponsored by different benefactors.

Ina vote of thanks, the prize recipient for the best graduating student in law for the twenty-seventh convocation, Mr. Udechukwu Benjamin on behalf of others, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and ASBSU management for the honour done them and assured they would continue to be good ambassadors of the University.
