The State Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Janet Agbede has assured members of the Consumer Protection Council, Abia State Chapter of the Command’s symbiotic relationship that will make their operation effective in the State.
Mr. Agbede who gave the assurance when members of the Council paid her a courtesy visit in her office in Umuahia extolled them for soliciting assistance from the security force to stamp out illegal and substandard products in the State and described their visit as a right step towards stamping out fake products in society.
The Commissioner who urged the producers to liaise with the relevant agencies for approval, also encouraged consumers to always have thorough examination of any product before consumption so as to avoid any adverse effect on their health.
Presenting his address earlier, the State Chairman Consumer Protection Council, Mr. Jude Martins, disclosed that their visit was aimed at seeking security support to enable them sanitize Abia State of adulterated and substandard products.
He stated the readiness of the Council to protect the genuine producers in line with the vision of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu led administration to promote locally made goods.
While appreciating the Commissioner of Police for her efforts towards protecting the lives and property of Abians, Mr. Martins described Abia as the most peaceful in the country.
In a vote of thanks, the Secretary, Consumer Protection Council Ogbonna Emmanuel appreciated Mrs. Agbede for her readiness to collaborate the the Council to flush out fake products and promised to sustain the established relationship.
