The Abia State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists will tomorrow organize One-Day Public Lecture to commemorate the World Press Freedom Day 2022 at the NUJ Press Centre, No. 1 Aba Road, Umuahia, by eleven o’clock in the morning.
A release jointly signed by the State Council Chairman, Comrade Victor Ndukwe and Secretary, Comrade Adaeze Ralph Igbokwe, says the theme of the celebration is “Journalism under Digital Siege” while Associate Professor, Uwaoma Uche, Head, Department of Mass Communication and Director ICEP/JUPEB, Gregory University, Uturu, will be Guest Lecturer.
According to the release, Professor A.C.B Agbazuere, the immediate past Chief of Staff to the Governor will be the Chairman of the occasion, while the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr. Eze Chikamnayo, is the Special Guest of Honour and, Sir Onyebuchi Ememanka, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor is the Guest of Honour.
The release further discloses that other Special Guests include, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Deacon Uzoma Isiakpu, Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Common Services and Service Monitoring, Deacon Friday Ikpeoha, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Sports, Mr. Eze Ajuzie, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Brother Mba Okereke, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Deaconess Franca Ekwueme, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health. It adds that the Discussants include, Pastor Ralph Egbu, former Secretary to the State Government, Sir Chimdi Oluoha, Retired Permanent Secretary, Sir Ambrose Nwachukwu, former Vice President, NUJ South East Zone C and Elder Ogbonaya Iheaka, the Pioneer Chairman of Abia State Council of NUJ.
