COMMISSIONER FOR WORKS.

The Commissioner for Works, Mr. Bob Ogu has made a case for better management of the environment to avoid natural disasters.

Mr. Ogu who stated this in his office at the State Secretariat, Umuahia during a courtesy visit of the management team of National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency NESREA, stressed the need for the team to interface with the State Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Lands to effectively handle environmental issues in the State.

The Works Commissioner stated that the ministry is not unmindful of the existence of the agency and encouraged the NESREA team to form a synergy with the management team of the ministry, noting that such synergy will be of immense benefit to the State.

Speaking, the coordinator of National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, Mr. Kingsley Nwogu, stated that the visit was to liaise with the Ministry of Works in order to maximize the available environmental tools in road and bridge construction in the State.

Directors of the Ministry were among those present during the courtesy.
