The State Government says its attention has been drawn to a planned protest by some group of people masquerading as teachers to disrupt the existing peaceful atmosphere in the state.

A release signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Chris Ezem, discloses that government in November 2021 paid eight months arrears of wages to teachers and has promised to intervene with payment of outstanding wage bill within fourteen days following recent meetings between government and Abia NUT leadership.

The release warns that it will not hesitate to deal with anybody or group that engages in any form of protests aimed at disrupting the peace in the state, since the leadership of NUT has disassociated itself from the protests.

If further notes that all security agents have been put on red alert to arrest, detain and prosecute all involved.
