The State Head of Service, Sir Onyii Wamah, has commended the Nigeria Labour Congress, Abia State Council, for successfully, completing her training for 2021 NLC State level School with twenty-nine graduands.
Sir Wamah made the commendation while declaring the 2021 NLC State Level School Graduation Ceremony closed at the State NULGE Secretariat, Umuahia.
The Head of Service represented by the permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Pensions, Pastor Mrs. Clare Onyegbu, expressed happiness with the theme of the training ‘’Building Our Future Through Education’’, adding that the organization, teaching and learning session of the training culminated in the high quality of graduands produced.
He enjoined the graduands to align theory with practice as they go back to their respective establishments.
While expressing happiness that the skills of the graudands have been sharpened for optimal performance, in labour matters, the Head of Service urged them to foster industrial harmony between the workers and government at all times.
In brief exhortation, The Rev. Nnadi Ogbuagu of City of Kings International who observed that Labour must work with Government to succeed, advised the Union Leaders to serve the workforce faithfully as people who must give account to God.
Contributing, the Commissioner for Basic Education, Chief Ukwu Rocks Emma, represented by a Director in his Ministry, Mrs. Ngozi Chiori, lauded the NLC for establishing the Labour School and enjoined the graudands to impact positively on their various MDAs as they return to their offices.
In their remarks, the Managing Director, Abia State Housing Development Corporation, Alozie Nwankwo, Deputy President, NUPSRAW, Anambra State, Comrade Festus Nwoye, extolled the vision and mission of the school, while Comrade Eze Idima called on Government to pay workers salaries regularly.
Earlier, the State Facilitator, Comrade Urumdilachi Ndubueze listed the objectives of the school to include promotion and strengthening membership involvement in the Trade Union activities through provision of skills prerequisite for effective worker participation as well as providing a platform for workers to know what Trade Unionism is about.
Highlights were the presentation of certificates to graduands by the State head of Service, while good will messages came from comrade Festus Nwoye, Deputy President, NUPSRAW, Anambra State Council, among others.
