Following the fact finding visit of the Security conscious Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu to the scenes of incessant Kidnappings and killings in Umunneochi Local Government Area and the extensive interactive sessions with Umunneochi Leaders, Stakeholders and Security Agencies , the Governor has directed the State Commissioner of Police Mrs Janet Agbede alongside Umunneochi Youths to provide immediate Security along the Ihube to Isuochi Road stretching from Ngodo through Lomara Junction.
In a release endorsed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr Eze Chikamnayo, Governor Ikpeazu also directed that upon the implementation of the directive, the Chairman, Umunneochi Local Government Area , Chief Ifeanyi Madu should open the Road leading from Ihube through Lomara Junction to Ngodo Isuochi immediately.
He further mandated the Commissioner of Police, to draw up logistic requirements for mounting six additional check points at strategic locations across Umunneochi Local Government Area.
The Governor directed all settlers, herders and individuals residing inside the forests around the Local Government Area to vacate such locations with immediate effect as Government can no longer guarantee the safety of any person or group found to be residing in the forests around the area.
Governor Ikpeazu further announced that all Cows and herders around Umunneochi Local Government Area are restricted strictly to the Cattle Market located at Umuchieze until a final decision is reached concerning the menace in the Cattle Market.
The State chief Executive to this end directed the Leadership of the Youths of Umunneochi Local Government Area Vigilante Groups, Hunters and the Hausa Community to continue to meet with him until an amicable solution is found to the incessant cases of Insecurity in the Area.
The Governor however urged all parties to show restraint and circumspection in their utterances and actions in order to maintain the peace and promote peaceful coexistence of all law abiding citizens.
