Week in Retrospect

Last week, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu embarked on a congratulatory visit to the PDP Presidential candidate and former Vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in Abuja.


Speaking, Governor Ikpeazu assured the PDP Presidential candidate of his personal commitment and those of the entire PDP members in the state to the strengthening of the party towards winning the 2023 Presidential elections.


Also, last week, the unveiling and public presentation of the book titled: “The Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu Trajectory, An Eye Witness Account” written by the Director General Abia State marketing and Quality management agency, Mr. Sam hart was held at the Michael Okpara auditorium Umuahia.


Speaking during the event, the Governor Dr Okezie Ikpezu said he would like to be remembered for peace, stability, security and other monumental projects executed in the State which were only made possible by God.


The book was reviewed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr Eze Chikamnayo.


Also last week, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu received the Abia State market Chairmen forum in collaboration with ASMASTA who paid him a solidarity visit at his Aba Lodge.


Receiving the traders, Governor Ikpeazu described the visit as unique stating that his story will be incomplete without the business sector that constituted about seventy percent of the population of the State.


Last week, the Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu met with the people of Umunneochi Local Government Area at the Palace of Eze Godson Ezekwesiri IN Umuelem Isuochi.


Speaking during the meeting, Governor Ikpeazu promised to liaise with leders and stakeholders in the area with a view to nipping in the bud kidnapping and other social vices that has become the order of the day in the Area.


The wife of the Governor Dr Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu also last week received the sector commander of the Road Safety Commission Abia Sector Command, Mr. Paul Ugwu and some cyclists who came to mark the world cycling day.


Speaking, Dr Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu urged the public to adopt bicycle as one of their means of transportation for healthy living.


The wife of the Governor Dr Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu last week received the members of the Aba Chapter of Female Accountants of Nigeria at the conference room of her Office.


Addressing them, the wife of the Governor, Dr Mrs. Ikpeazu charged the Association to use their associations programs to sensitize people on the need to know their genotype before marriage.


Also last week, the 2021 NLC State Level School Graduation ceremony was held at the State NULGE Secretariat Umuahia.


Speaking during the event, the Head of Service, Sir Onyii Wamah represented by the permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and pensions, Pastor Mrs. Clare Onyegbu commended the Nigeria labour Congress Abia State council for successfully completing her training for NLC State level School with twenty-nine graduands.


The Maiden Abia para- Games 2022 organized by the State Sports council in conjunction with Organization for impact and Reform (OFIAR) was held last week at the Umuahia Township Stadium.


Declaring the event open, the Acting State director of sports, Mr. Christian Ejinwa said the programme was an opportunity to showcase ability in disability and thanked Governor Ikpeazu for giving approval to host the event.
