The gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, Prof. Uchenna Ikonne today met with the Senatorial candidate of the PDP for Abia North, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa and some leaders of the Party from Abia North Senatorial zone.


The meeting which was held at the Umuahia residence of Senator Ohuabunwa had in attendance Hon. ElderAmah Abraham, the current spokesperson of the State Party, Barr. Okey Igwe, member representing Umunneochi State Constituency, Chief Gab Igboko, former Commissioner for SME’s and Barr. Mrs Priscilla Umeham, a Commissioner in the Abia State Civil Service Commission.


The meeting is in continuation of Prof. Ikonne’s laudable efforts at mobilising the good people of Abia State towards achieving victory for the Party at all levels in the 2023 general election.


Prof. Ikonne who was accompanied by the Director General of his Campaign Organisation, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Elechi, promised to bring the full combination of his fine character, integrity and capacity into government to meet the current infrastructure challenges facing the zone.


In his remarks, Senator Ohuabunwa described Prof. Ikonne as an erudite scholar and a great Abian with impeccable track record in public service adding that his stint in the public service exposed him to the nooks and crannies of the five Local Government Areas of Abia North where he is very well known and accepted.


The Zonal Chairman of Abia North and spokesperson of the State Party, Hon. Elder Amah Abraham extolled the qualities of Prof. Ikonne, who he described as a scholar of high repute. He said that the leaders of the zone are fully committed to achieving the Party’s agenda to recover and restore sanity in governance in Nigeria.


Abraham assured him that the threats of portfolio political Parties will not withstand PDP’s imposing superstructure in 2023 and beyond.


Prof. Ikonne called on the leaders to join hands with other members of the Party in the zone to work towards the Party’s victory in 2023.
