A three storey building located at Ahiaeke Ndume Ibeku Umuahia North Local Government Area last night partly collapsed with no casualty recorded.

Narrating the story to BCA correspondent Ifeanyi Ogbonna who visited the scene, an occupant of the building, Mr. Daniel Oriebure who expressed gratitude to God for sparing their lives from the partially collapsed building, said the incident occurred at eleven pm last night during rainfall.

Mr. Oriebure decried that the incident has rendered them homeless.

In their reactions, the President General Azueke Ndume autonomous community Mr. Tony Onyenwaku and President Ndume Youth Association said the building which has been there for over thirty years, was recently renovated by the owner and blamed the partial collapse to change in the original purpose of the structure as well as structural deficiency.

Speaking when he visited the scene the General Manager Umuahia Capital Development Authority, Chief Enyinnaya Nwokenta disclosed that the building architecture was recently contravened by the owner.
