Over two thousand new students of Abia State Polytechnic have matriculated and taken their Oath of Allegiance for the 2021/2022 Academic session.

Speaking at its twenty-eight Matriculation Ceremony at the Polytechnic Pavilion, the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu assured of the unrelentless support of his administration towards positioning the institution to realize its goals.

Governor Ikpeazu, a Visitor to the Polytechnic was represented by the Commissioner for Post Basic Education – Chief Chijioke Mark disclosed that his administration ensured the recent successful accreditation exercise of the School as part of its obligation to bring it at par with other tertiary institutions of the country, while practical measures are on to improve their welfare.

The Governor added that Education remains one of the pillars of his government and advised the Polytechnic Community to reciprocate these efforts. 

Presenting his address, the Rector, Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, – Prof. Okorie Osonwa thanked Governor Ikpeazu for supporting them towards having a successful accreditation which has given the students, the opportunity to undergo professional technical trainings.

Prof. Osonwa reminded the Matriculants that the institution has zero tolerance to all social vices and advised them to study hard, while congratulating them for completing their admission processes.

In their separate speeches, an Elder Statesman – Elder Godwin Nnah and a friend of the Polytechnic – Mr. Don Onwuzuruigbo described Abia Poly as a citadel of pride to the state which has produced personalities that have made the state proud globally and called on the new students to justify the opportunity by studying hard.

Some of the Matriculants who spoke with our Aba Zonal Correspondent, Chinyere Francis Anyaogu, including Ebere Bright of the Business Administration and Miss Cecilia Sabastine of Science Laboratory Department thanked their sponsors and promised to be focused on their studies.
