SIR. ONYII WAMAH CHALLENGES ALL PUBLIC SERVANTS TO ENSURING AN EGALITARIAN PUBLIC SERVICE.

The Head of Service, Sir Onyii Wamah, says the challenge of ensuring an egalitarian public service as well as raising the standard needs a collective effort of all public servants and stakeholders.

Sir Wamah, said that there is no sacred cow in government’s commitment to revert the present service to the old culture where productivity, discipline and respect for seniority were the hallmarks of the public service.  

The Head of Service, who expressed displeasure over the non chalant attitude and insensitivity prevalent in the service, commended members of the Public Service Examination Board, for their efforts in organizing the mini training which according to him will contribute immensely to the desired ideal public service.

Speaking on the theme: Public Service Ethics, the permanent Secretary, Bureau of Administration and Carrier Management, Mr. Benson Enyioko while advising public servants to shun all forms of indiscipline, corruption and other acts inimical to the growth of the service admonished them to exhibit high level of responsibility in the discharge of their duties.

Speaking also, the permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishment and Pensions, Mrs. Clare Onyegbu described capacity building as a vital tool in equipping the workforce and urged public servants to cultivate the habit of reading to enhance their performance, and expressed regrets that some public servants particularly, the newly employed are ignorant of the norms and operations of the public service.
