ABSU VC PROMISES TO ENSURE SPEEDY COMPLETION OF THE ULTRA-MODERN THREE HUNDRED CAPACITY BED SPACE HOSTEL IN ABA.

The Vice-Chancellor, Abia state University Uturu,  Professor Onyemachi Ogbulu has promised the contractor handling the Ultra-Modern Three hundred capacity bed space  hostel for the College of Medicine and Health sciences Aba that his administration will assist financially to ensure speedy completion of the project.

Professor Ogbulu who disclosed this when he led his management team on an inspection tour of the project site at Aba said he wants to see the project completed before the next accreditation visit of the National Universities Commission, NUC to the College, adding that his administration has zero tolerance for abandoning projects which he says, does no good to any Institution or Government.

He thanked the Governor and Visitor to the University, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu for his prompt intervention and support especially in putting necessary machinery in motion to ensure that accreditation for medicine and surgery program will be restored soon and commended the contractor, Okey Technical Construction Company Ltd for the speed and quality of work done since returning back to site.

Responding, the contractor and Managing Director, Okey Technical Construction company Ltd,  Mr Okey Onyemuwa, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his initial intervention which enabled them resume work on the project and assured that with more financial support as promised, the project which has reached advanced stage will be completed as directed.

He explained that the initial Three Hundred bed space hostel is now capable of accommodating five hundred bed spaces because of the expansion of the rooms in the hostel and other facilities the company added to make it standard and befitting for students of the college.

The Vice Chancellor and his management team had earlier stopped at the permanent site of the Faculty of Engineering, Osisioma under construction with the assurance that efforts are on top gear to realize the administration’s target of moving the relevant faculties to the new campus within the year as promised.
