Ukraine blamed by Russia for deadly blast in border city of Belgorod

At least 39 houses and 11 blocks of flats were hit in Belgorod, Russian officials say

Russia has accused Ukraine over explosions which reportedly killed three persons in the city of Belgorod, near the border with Ukraine.

The regional Governor said the blasts hit dozens of residential building while air defences had been activated.

The Kremlin said today’s attack had been a deliberate attempt by Ukrainian forces to target civilians but Ukraine has dismissed the claim, saying that the Russians had lied about similar incident in the past.

Russian defence Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said air defences had destroyed three Ukrainian Tochka-U ballistic missiles with cluster warheads, while fragments of one of the them fell on a block of flats.

However, Ukrainian defence Ministry spokesman Yuriy Sak, told newsmen that previously their Security Service has many times intercepted phone calls between the Russian Servicemen which proved that sometimes, and most often, these types of active ties are provocations by the Russian side
