NKECHI IKPEAZU                     

The wife of the Governor, Dr. Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu has commended the members of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency- NDLEA in their efforts towards reduction of drug abuse prevalence and rehabilitation of the drug addicts in the country.

Dr. Mrs Ikpeazu who stated this in Aba, the State head quarters of NDLEA, during her visit to the clients of the office, said that drug addiction is bad, adding that youths need to be advised against drugs intake, peddling and abuse.

The wife of the Governor decried that drug addiction can cause untimely death, madness, rustication from school, prone to violence among others.

She, however, called on parents, community leaders, NGOs, and religious bodies to join government in the campaign against drug abuse prevalence in the state and country.  

The Governor’s wife prayed God to make the rehabilitated persons not to go back to the addiction and assured that the requests of clients of NDLEA will be looked into.

In his remarks, the state acting commander of NDLEA, Mr MacLean Ebani, thanked the wife of the Governor for her visit and support to them in their fight against drug eradication.

Also speaking on behalf of the NDLEA, client, Mr Okonkwo Chukwuemeka expressed their gratitude to the wife of the Governor for love demonstrated towards them and officers of NDLEA and appealed for assistance for them to learn skills to be gainfully employed.

Our Government House Correspondent, Vincent Okogbuo reports that the wife of the Governor toured facilities of the centre and inspected displayed illicit drugs by the NDLEA officers.
