The State Director, National Population Commission, Mrs Adaku Ezebuiro has called on the people of Ovom in Obingwa LGA to give enumerators for the 2023 trial Census, Population and Housing the needed support to carry out their duties accurately.

Lady Ezebuiro who made the call during a town hall meeting and sensitization visit to Ama Iri na Abuo, Ovom in Obingwa LGA noted that the trial Census will be conducted in all Enumeration Areas in one Local Government Area in each state across geo-political zones and called on the community leaders to give them maximum support to ensure the success of the exercise.

She assured that the commission will provide adequate security for the enumerators and their equipment and encouraged the communities not to interfere in the exercise as allowing the enumerators to carry out their lawful duties will enhance the exercise.

In her speech, the chairman, Obingwa Local Government Area, Mrs Uloma Nwogu noted that the council will give the best to ensure a successful trial census and enjoined the commission not to relent in the effort to guarantee a hitch free 2023 Population and Housing Census.

Contributing, the Secretary, Abia State Population Census Committee, Chief Charles Ama called on them to see the program as a way to success, adding that the state government is committed to ensuring a proper Census in 2023.

In their Messages, the leader, Obingwa Legislative Council, Mr Victor Iheukwumere and the Traditional Ruler of Ama Iri na Abuo, Ovom Autonomous Community, Eze Chetachi Chinyere who promised to render their support to the enumerators described the exercise as apt and timely and pledged to accommodate the enumerators.
