The State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has handed over six Hilux vans to the Police, three to the Army, and one each to the Navy, the DSS and the Correctional Service in the state, to boost their operations and strengthen security in the state.
Addressing the representatives of these agencies, Governor Ikpeazu explained that the gesture is aimed at increasing the capacity of the security agencies and beefing up the state’s security and assured that his administration will continue to provide more to reach every Agency.
The Governor promised that the untiring efforts of the Agencies will notbe taken for granted, as his administration has enjoyed great synergy with them since he assumed office, which has made Abia the safest state in the South East.
The State Chief Executive encouraged the security operatives to deepen their efforts in securing all the boundaries and the interiors of Abia, as well as intensify effortsin tracking down hoodlums who have continued to make the country unsafe.
Responding on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Janet Agbede, DSP Lambert Ekwekwe in charge of transportation at the Abia Police Command, Umuahia, thanked the Governor for giving them the vehicles to make their jobs more effective and promised that they will be utilized effectively.
He urged Abia residents to always volunteer information to the police and other security agencies to boost their effectiveness, stressing that without information, they cannot do much.
