The State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has appealed to Abia Poly students and well-meaning Abains to remain calm, following the recent action of the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, against the State Polytechnic.

In a statement endorsed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Chris Ezem, the Governor described the action as very embarrassing and capableofdestabilizing the current peace and harmony in the state, as the fate of the students appears to be jeopardized by the said action.

The Governor noted that academic activities have been ongoing in the Institution without interruption, as the teachers and staff were not on strike and have remained committed to their duties.

Governor Ikpeazu further announced the immediate dissolution and suspension of the Council and management of the Institution, as part of measures to reposition the Institution.

He also approved the constitution of a taskforce to restore the accreditation of Abia Poly within thirty days with Prof. Ikechi Mgboji as Chairman.

Other members include: Dr. John Nwadioha, Jude Udeachara, Rev. Father kelechi Anyanwu, Mrs. Love Ezema, and the SUG President of Abia Poly, Mr. Stanley Nwankpa.
