The Coalition of Authentic Students Union Leaders of Higher Institutions in the State has called ion students of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba to eschew all incitements and disregard the purported Press Conference of some impostors masquerading as students.

In a Press statement jointly signed by the SUG Presidents of the eight higher institutions in the State, and read by the SUG President of Abia State Polytechnic Aba, Comrade Stanley Nwankpa, they disclosed that none of the so-called students belong to any recognized Executive of the students Union Governments of any Institution in the State.

They frowned at the statement made by Head, Media Department and National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, Fatima Abubakar, that the accreditation of the institution was withdrawn on account of salary related issues.

The Students’ leaders said as stakeholders in the Education sector and leaders of the Students’ community, they have swiftly engaged all stakeholders to acquire the real position of things regarding reasons for the denial of accreditation to the Polytechnic.

They condemned the moves by some sections of the political class to politicize the current development to de-market the state and passed a vote of confidence on Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for prioritizing quality education, expressing confidence that the six man committee set up by the Governor will unravel how funds duly released to the institution were spent.

The students expressed shock that in spite of the huge financial investments of over seven point one billion naira as monthly subvention and loan pay-offs by the State Government in favour of the institution from July 2015 to May 2022, with the enormous Internally Generated Revenue accruing to the polytechnic, the board and management failed to put the funds to judicious use.
