GOVERNMENT PARTNERS WORLD BANK IN TRAINING OF TECHNICAL COLLEGE STUDENTS.

Commissioner for Post Basic Education, Sir Chijoke Mark says the state government is partnering the World Bankin training of the Students of Government Technical Colleges in Aba, Umuahia and Ohafia Local Government Areas in vocational skills.

Sir Mark stated this during stakeholders sensitization visit to a former Chairman,Abia State Traditional Rulers council, Eze Isaac Ikonne and the Traditional Ruler of Osusu Autonomous Community Eze Maclord Nwachukwu

He said the visit is designed to acquaint the technical students with the requisite technological knowledge in vocational skills,upgrade the standard of technical colleges in the state,  Empower and equip the technical students cum Abia youths to become self reliant.

The Commissioner enjoined parents to take advantage of the ongoing admission and enrolment into the colleges to register their Children and wards.

In their remarks the State Focal Person IDEAS Project, Dr Endi Ezengwa represented by a Director in Education for EmploymentAgency,Mr Okezie Ezigbo, State Project Coordinator IDEAS Project Mrs Nwanyieze Otum and Project Communication Officer IDEAS Project Mrs Chigozirim Uche said that on completion of the training exercise into National Technical Certificate 1 to 3, the technical students arewould be qualified to sit for WASSCE and other external examinations to further their studies

Also Speaking a former Chairman Abia State Traditional Rulers Council,Eze Isaac Ikonne and the Traditional Ruler of Osusu Autonomous Community, Eze Maclord Nwachukwu underscored the need for advancement of technology in  national building and assured the state government and world bank of their support for the program.

In their speeches, the prime minister, Eziama Autonomous Community Chief Gabriel Ohuonu and the Chairman Osusu Autonomous Community Chief Chigozie Egbulefu described the initiative as a welcome development and assured that they would ensure adequate protection of the equipment.

Our Correspondent Simeon Kalu reports that the stakeholders sensitization visit featured prayers for the smooth take off of the project by Eze Ikonne and Eze Nwachukwu as well as distribution of fliers to the people.
