The Wife of the Governor, Dr. Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu has reiterated the need for young people to known their genotype before marriage, in order to reduce the prevalence of sickle cell anemia in society.
Dr. Mrs. Ikpeazu gave the charge at Ohanze Community Primary School during the Twentieth Anniversary of Oganihu Ndom Ohanze Women Association in Obingwa Local Government Area launched of their maiden Almanac and Fund raising of Ten Million Naira for Adult Education.
She extolled the Oganihu Ndom Ohanze women for their commitment towards the development of the community.
In his remarks, a former Deputy Governor in the state, Chief Eric Acho Nwakanma described the wife of the governor as a good daughter of Ohanze community who always identifies with the members of her community and pledged their support for the women in realization of their projects.
In their speeches, the Chairman, Obingwa local government area, Mrs Uloma Wogu, the PDP State House of Assembly candidate for the Obingwa West State Constituency in next year’s election, Chief Erondu Uchenna Erondu, and Chairman on the occasion Chief Obioma Nnah, thanked the women for their good initiative .
In her welcome address, the chairperson of Oganihu Ndom Ohanze, Mrs Ihudiya Florence Anyanwu thanked the wife of the governor for gracing the occasion and recalled that the mother of the state’s first lady, Late Jemima Nwakanma was the pioneer president of the women association who left inspiring legacies and called for support for achieving their projects.
